Mr. Beer Brewmaster kit Aug 23, 2009
By R. Gantt At first I was skeptical about this kit because I had a similiar one a few years ago that gave disappointing results. However, the Mr. Beer brewmaster kit made a pleasantly surprising good batch of home brew on the first attempt. This was the American Devil IPA premium. I even "cheated" by only fermenting for 10 days and carbonated for 10 days where the instructions recommended 14 days for each. My connoisseur friends on this subject really enjoyed this IPA batch as well. That was the icing on the cake for me. So, I'm very excited to continue brewing with this kit. As I write this, I have my second batch carbonating in the bottles and my third and fourth batches fermenting. I bought another fermenter from Mr. Beer directly so that I may have at least two batches in the rotation at a time. The hardest part is waiting for it to become "drinkable". That reminds me, I'm parched. Time for a cold one. Cheers!

Fun for a first timer Mar 27, 2010
By Filled with joy This kit is awesome! I purchased it as a Christmas gift for my husband. He had wanted to try home brewing and this seemed like a simple introduction. He was skeptical at first but had fun making it and got excited as the beer sat and the day neared that he could try it. When it was ready for consumption, we had a little tasting party and all enjoyed it! It was easy to make and fun to drink and now I know for future gifts I can buy replacement kits of different beers for him to try!

This was a simple to use system and brewed great beer although I found it tasted better onced bottled and sitting almost 8-weeks.

Not bad Jan 27, 2011
By S. Meyer (Quick background, I've gone through culinary school and have always had an interest on how to make things)
I was looking for a means of making my own beer and wine, and came across this (for the beer). I purchased this thinking it seemed to be the best Amazon offered. Unfortunately I wish I did a little more research as I now have purchased a stainless steel conical fermenter (which can be used for both wine and beer), along with some glass carboys, and a few other necessary stuff for making a much better quality product. All of which you can't really find on Amazon. I will continue to use this product however for my remaining Mr Beer premixed cans, and may use it as a tester for recipes that I come up with before making the larger batches in my real fermenter. Overall it's a nice small beginners kit, and indeed it is small. If you are actually serious about beer and wine making and turning it into a hobby, this unfortunately will not cut it. If it is something you may do once a year or less, and it's strictly for personal use, then 2 gallons (less than 2-12 packs) will probably be fine and you should buy this. I however wanted to make this into a hobby with friends and family and also making it a learning experience.
P.s. - Since this is a plastic fermenter, (which makes me the most regretful). You have to be extra careful with it. Avoid scratches or nicks inside the container (do not throw your utensils / metal can opener into the container with the sanitizing solution as they recommend), or you will have to throw it away for sanitary purposes, and quality of a finished product. Scratches harbor bacterias that interfere with the yeast.

Very good hobby for the beer drinker Jan 31, 2012
By C.J. I received my own MR. Beer kit from my Step-father this past Christmas. When I opened this I wasn't sure what to do, but the instructions are simple with illustrations. My first batch to brew was the Witty Monk and it was drinkable in five weeks. I am on my third batch and still going. This kit was cheaper on Amazon and the better beer recipes are on Mr. Beer's website. There are 100+ different recipes to try and are reasonably priced. I liked this kit so much I bought on for my friend's birthday and now we are brewing our own beers. If you are looking for a cheap way to make your own beer I would say give Mr. Beer a try. My next batch will be the Cranberry Maibock, sounds flavorful and it has a higher ABV %.
