Great looking flagpole. Much better quality then I expected for the price. You will not be disappointed. Was shipped fast even though it was on backorder.

4Nice, but some assemply required.  Sep 19, 2009
By David Bower
When my flag pole came in I was favorably impressed with its appearance; it looks good and feels like quality.

There were no instructions on attaching a flag however, and there seemed to be absolutely no provision for attaching the bottom grommet of the flag to the pole. Later I noticed an item at the bottom of the web page advertising some rings which could be used for attaching a flag. I noticed them when I ordered the flag but had no idea that the pole came with no provision for attaching the bottom of the flag to the pole. That was an unwarranted assumption on my part.

I finally attached the upper grommet of the flag to the pole using the clip that comes with the pole. The clip was too small to fit the grommet directly on to it without using pliers to bend the clip apart to attach the flag. That was doable however so I got the flag attached at the top.

The bottom flag grommet was another matter altogether. I had the grommet in one hand and a pole with no way of attaching the grommet to the pole in the other. I considered ordering the rings shown on the page but decided that would take too long. I considered going to the hardware store to try and find a suitable means of attaching the flag; finally I decided to just drill a hole in the flag pole and attach the flag with a sheet metal screw. That worked just fine although it defeated any swiveling of the flag

One other thing to keep in mind if you order this pole is the length. It is only 4 feet 10 inches long. The flag is 36 inches long at the pole so that leaves very little space for elevating the flag above the holder. If you have a location where this short a pole works, it is very handsome.

This cast iron holder featured on the same page fits it nicely. The one I received had a burr on the inside that had to be filed down before the flag pole would fit.

From the above you can see why I said assembly required. I needed an electric drill, pliers, file, a socket wrench and a screw driver to get the flag up and proudly waving in the breeze. The final product looks good and I'm proud of it; I just wanted to warn you that it may take more work than one might expect.

I did not try the rings so I can't say whether they would work or not.

Exactly what I was looking for, other than the color. I was expecting more brown tone and it looks almost black. Still, it is sturdy and attractive. I am pleased and I spent a lot of time looking.

5Great Quality - Good Purchase  Jul 14, 2009

We second the comments by New Orleans Girl. This is great quality at low price. Pole is tubular aluminum with hammered antique copper finish - dark pebbled surface. Finial is hefty cast iron, with same hammered finish. Looks great.

* Works well w 2-Position Bronze Cast-Iron Bracket (#03048, Evergreen Enterprises)
