I have had this umbrella stand for years and every time we go to one of the kids soccer games and set this up we are the envy of all those around us who are holding their umbrellas because they won't go into the grass. This stand easily goes into the grass with the spikes it has on the bottom. All you have to do is step on the flat edges of the base and the spikes sink right in. It's easy up, easy break-down. This umbrella stand is worth every dime for busy families who like shade at grassy events.
